EasiKey 99 fob download utility

About

This utility will allow you to extract all the token codes from an EasiKey 99 so keys can be transfered to another door controller without having to retrieve the keys, or replace them.

What you need

A PC running Windows and a USB to TTL converter (CH340 based converter was used here).

A short piece of alarm cable ideally.

Connect the Easikey port 2 reader connections to the TTL converter:

-V2 > Ground

S2 > TX

A2 > RX

If the converter has a 3V / 5V option, choose 5V.

Its very unlikely to work on 3V.

Install and launch

Download the utility here.

Ensure the cable is connected to both the PC USB port and the EasiKey’s reader 2 connection.

Double‑click the utility to launch it. You’ll see:

Port dropdown

Connect, Start Capture, Get Keys from backup, Help/About

Connecting

Select your COM port from the port dropdown. If there is only 1 port, it will automatically be selected.

Click Connect.

If successful, the app will give you instructions as to what to do next.

Backing up

The Software will show instructions as you progress through.

The instructions are also here:

• Present editor fob to the EasiKey.

• Press both buttons together. The green indicator should glow (not flash).

• Click Start capture. If the EasiKey hasn't timed out, the Status will change to "EasiKey ready to send"

• Press the blue button

The utility will begin capturing all data from the controller. Once it gets to 100%, its done.

Once the EasiKey stops sending, wait a few seconds. A file named dump_raw.bin will be saved in the same folder as the program.

The copy takes a few minutes to complete. If you see it say complete almost straight away, its gone wrong and needs to be run again.

View credentials

Click Get Keys from backup to load in the newly created file.

A conversion takes place, then the tokens will be listed.

You can now just copy & paste this list.

As an addition, the utility rebuilds the full 512‑byte image and saves it as eeprom_dump.bin

Its not been tested, but should be possible with a programmer to flash this file into another 24C04, then just plug this inside the EasiKey 99. This chip is socketed inside all EasiKey 99's.

Other USB <> TTL devices

FTDI FT232 TTL 5V / 3.3V USB converter
This worked flawlessly. Windows 10 recognised it and installed drivers automatically. No problems running backups.

This is a very old Prolific PL2303 USB to TTL converter.

Unfortunately it did not work with the EasiKey because it only achieves 3 volts on its TX. Its a shame really because it would have been a very tidy solution.

There are a few other reasons not to use this particular device.

This one is actually a fake. Its wires are very fragile and would break with usage easily.

Also, the company Prolific have blocked all these fake chips from being used in Windows by changing the driver to spot and block the fakes.

Its served well on another project over the years (Thorian PC interface) but is never going to work with the EasiKey unless additional circuitry is added. To be honest, I have a solution but am not going to document it. Better to just choose a compatible device like the others above.
